ETA Just found out the kid was planning on joining the military and had passed all physicals (not easy) and pshyc tests. They have summarily revoked his application and have said he is no longer eligible to join the military because he has been arrested for a "violent crime". And they wonder why military enrollment is down.

At 8pm tonite. I got in some trigger time this afternoon doing pop drills wiht my new browing gold 12 ga. I also did a review on rainier ballisitics plated leadsafe bullets. see here:

My arms are sore as hell from the pop drills. OK you ask, what's a pop drill? A pop drill is holding your ghotgun in your dominant hand, ready to fire, and a clay pigeon in your weak hand. Throw the clay out in front of you as hard as you can (usually this ends up being 8-10 yards) shoulder your shotgun and fire. I was shooting with a full choke so i missed more than i hit but its good practice for bird hunters to make hits on those fast, close birds where you have to take a snap shot. I broke a whole box of 300 and some clays and hit proably 40% or so. With a full choke thats not bad. ive hit as high as 95% using a cylinder choke and an 18" barrel but who hunts with that combo?

Pinged out a couple boxes of .22s with my Walther pistol, mostly just plinking at clays. I dont shoot that handgun for accuracy much. its no tackdriver like a ruger or a hammerli would be, but its perfely adequate for a fun gun. I shot a couple mags of 5.56 out of my AR-180B just keep in practice too. The 180 has a littel more recoil than a standard AR but its more accuate than i am.

Its 1:30 in the morning, im not in a very good mood, and ive spent the last three hours reading blogs and forum messages about the generally downward spiraling condition of our great country.

I read everything in sight unless is dailyKos or those jackasses at DU. Those guys arent worth wasting cache space on. We as gun owning, abortion protesting, god fearing, decent human beings are fighting a losing battle. Every time i log on i read more stories of idiotic elected people screwing over the electorate with PC BS or "do as i say, not as i do" crap. I read about gun owners being vilified as "unstable" or suspect just because thye own a firearm. Hell my own family is currently embroiled in a nasty spat over the fact i hunt with an AR and the F'ing fudds think they're only for killing people and what do i need that for. The dumbass actually stuck up for Zumbo if you can belive that.

There are internet sites with pornography that would make a sewer cleaner puke. its actually legal to kill babies as long as they havent been in the womb for more that three months. (Oh you are so going to hell for that decision, Supreme court) I watch the fat pig rosie o'dumbass get a public forum to spout whatever liberal tripe she's got in her head that day, and the common man making 20k a year cant get his congressman to read a letter or answer a phone call unless he's promising to send them money.

Im tired of politcs and elected people in general. They say one thing and do another. the dems can get away with lieing, WHEN ITS ON TAPE, and nobody says a word (except o'reilly). I don;t vote anymore. Yeah yeah, crucify me if you want, its your buck. WHen you have a choice of the lesser of two evils to vote for, what's the point? I have a feeling in 2008 we wil have the same dumbass deal we did in 2000. The more i read the more i think the USA is circling the drain. We are headed down the road to "balkanization" or outright civil war. I wish we could split this country down teh middle. Even if only 1% of us took up arms, thats 400,000 weapons pointed at you. You can't control a country the size of texas with less that 5000 (est) insurgents in it with tens of thousnds of american troops. Rememeber Thermopylae (if you even know what it is). 300 dedicated patriots held 1 MILLION troops a bay for three days, buying time for thier comrades to beef up defenses and get ready for battle. They died to the last man. How much havok could 400,000 of us bring down on you? Lets take it another step farther. Asume only .1% of us will fight. thats 40,000 men. 40,000 men who know every nook and cranny of thier home turf, who know every place to hide and every good place to position a sniper. 40,000 men who are willing to fight you to the death to protect what our forefathers died to emplace. DON'T GO THERE. You DO NOT want kick this sleeping dog, or you may find yourself at the bad end of claws and teeth.

Three days off

I have all day today, tomorow and friday off as well as most of saturday and then i go back on graveyard sat nite. I think ill catch up on my yard work and maybe make a run to the dump with the winter accumulation of crap from my garage.

The plant upgrades are coming along nicely. The intake piping is all finished and they are pouring cement today. The buldings will go up next two weeks and then electrical and the the last is new pumps and finsh work. Hopefully by then they will have started digging at the plant for the construction there as well.

Military memories

I was in the national guard for 4 years when i was younger. I was just thinking back the other day on some of the stuff we pulled when i was in.

We were camped out one weekend in the middle of nowhere and about 2 in the moring we were fairly tooted up on peppermint schnapps and our CO got the wise idea to go rip around in one of the humvee's. Well we were having a good old time until the retard drove the vee' off a six foot cutbank. I made it out with just a bump on the noggin but one of the other guys got fipped out the door and ended up in a tree. He was scratched and cut to hell. The CO had a hell of a time expainning that one.

Final word on the VA tech shootings

Im leaving this one alone from now on and finishing with this.

People do shitty things to each other. Especially when they are mentally unbalanced as Cho oblviously was. Thats life. You cant go around worrying constantly abou some zipper head blowing you away in a depressed funk. Live your life as you want and make sure you're straight with your maker.

When your time is up, your time is up. That's gods plan. I intend that should i ever be faced with my imminent death from some psycho weilding a firearms, knife, or whatever, i will go down swinging. At that point what do you have to lose? The story goes that the men and women were lined up and shot in the head or shot as they cowered on the floor. Im not going to puport to know what was going through thier minds in the last seconds of thier lives but had it been me, i would have thought better me dying and taking him with me than him taking me and how many others with him.

VA tech shootings- RANT WARNING

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost and injured.

Second, the shooter had been identified as a Korean who emigrated here as a child. While VA officials have yet to say a definitive cause of his rampage, anecdotal evidence points to the possible effects of anti-depressants and "social rejection".

Where does some slant-eyed loner get off blowing away 33 americans, just becuase he wasnt getting enough pussy and had violent delusions? The guy had repeatedly show severe violent tendencies in his writing prior to the incident, and other students and faculty had noted erratic and bizzare behavior. Other people have stated they felt he might be a "shooter" someday due to his slightly manaical tendencies. Cho has also set fires in his dorm room (violent pyromania?) threatened other women, made false bomb threats agaisnt the campus, and been genrally violently anti-social. Personally, i think the guy should have been locked in a padded room years ago. He also commited neumerous federal firearms violations including serial number obliteration and illegal modification of a handgun among others.

Now to the school. While they did and admiral job ATTEMPTING to notify the students of the shooter, they should have IMMEDIATLY locked down the entoire campus until such time as the police and federal officials could safely escort the students and faculty to a sfe location. Not just send out e mails and IMs. Why did they wait two hours between the first shootings and starting a campus lockdown? And MOST IMPORTANTLY, why did the school forbid the carrying of cencealed firearms WHEN STATE LAW ALLOWED IT? If there had been someone packing there would be two fatalities. The first victim and the gunman. Not 33 innocent people.

The lefties have already started using this as a platform for more gun controls. Strangely, Leaders like Harry Ried said its not the time to debate policy like that, and the subject ended. Jackasses like kennedy and Feinstien still use it to blast out thier anti-gun rhetoric, no matter how insensitive they seem. My favorite remark so far has been a "FBI weapons specialist" on MSNBC who called a G19 and and a Walther P22 "assault pistols". Give me a F'ing break. The P22 was designed during the last AWB to meet the requirements set. The G19 has been around for longer than that. Assault pistols my ass.

A short word on Imus

All i care to say is this:
1. What he did, didn't rate canning him. Fines, suspensions, whatever else likely were. but blatant censorship of him by his firing is not kosher.

2. He was canned for saying things that black rappers say every day. Discrimination anyone?

3. Imus is an aging shock jock that is past his prime. He'll end up on satalite radio just like howard did, and his loyal audience will follow, further eroding the MSM viewership.

Light posting for the next week and a work rant

the posting might be light for the next week. Im working 12 on/12 off graveyard shift and the manager just had a hissy-fit about computer usage and threatened to fire us all if we dont cut back on our "computer misbehavior", so i cant post from work anymore. What makes it more funny is the idiot then installed an unsecured wireless router on our main office computer. If he thinks its bad now let's wait and see how it goes down with an unsecured broadband wireless connection there. I cant wait until some kid hacks in and whacks our chemical feed computer or something else. The usual line for that is "the computer got an E mail virus" and then we get nasty e mails from the manager or the retard IT guy.

Side note: according ot the managers e mail "message" (read THREAT) he caught emplyees on teh network doing the following (and he claims ot have proof, but im skeptical):

gambling
downloading porno videos
playing freeware games
recieving mass personal emails
other "questionable" activities

OK now for a little background. Our office computer is on a desk in the middle of the room. it has two hi-def security cameras pointed at the screen and dailed in close 24/7 so they can see EXACTLY what we are doing. The utilize net nanny but it is set low (to stop just porn pretty much). There is almost always two people on duty, except for night shift, and we have been instucted to "watch and report" if ther other person is screwing off. We are under CONSTANT security camera survileance everywhere but the restroom (and they threatend to put a camera in there too).

Now for the remainder of companyemployees. each has thier own laptop. No net nanny, no montoring other that what comes through the comapny server. They are alone for the majority of thier shifts. they have no cameras nor any other monitoring devices watching them at all (unless they are in the plant). They have been caught sleeping on the job, showed up both drunk (.12 BAC) and showed up high on unknown drugs, have been forced to paint all thier tools various colors so they dont steal them wholesale, and pisspoor job performance.

Little bit of disparity huh?

Another issue. Recently we had constuction crew come ot the plant to work on piping changes and renovation work. They showed up late, didnt bring the correct tools and equuipment, never called ahead to let us know what was going on at all. They wanted to start tearing up plant process equipment and were mad when i wouldnt let them. Then to top it all off, the manager calls us and chews us out wholesale because we didnt have anything ready for the crew when they came. Nice to be appreciated.

some secreatary scrwed up my paperwork so i couldnt take my certification test. balls.

I have a five hour drive, two hours of certification testing and then a five hour drive home. In one day. In a crappy company car. Joy. Im going to bed.

RCOB coyote hunting part 2

Ok lets move on. The issue here is sporting vs. vermin eradication. My dad is a farmer/rancher. He makes his living raising animals. Coyotes kill those animals and cut into his bottom line and living money. I kill coyotes by any means possible. poison, bullets, traps, whatever. As long as they are DEAD. Ive caught alot of flak because of this stance.

Ive had to put a bullet in a 50,000$ prize bull because a f'ing coyote ripped open his belly and scrotum and the vet was unable to reapir it. When you watch 50% of your profit for whole YEAR go POOF because of one of those vermin you tend to carry bad feelings. Ive found lambs and sheep that were ripped apart while still alive by packs of coyotes. Ive sewn up calves that were bitten and slashed. Trust me when i say ive been there.

Hunters seen to think that they are there for the sport of shooting. I poisned down three dens of about six animals each one year (on my dads land) and actually got in a fistfight over it. the hunter said i had no right to kill them in such an "inhumane" manner and should have shot them so they died cleanly, or better yet, let him do it. I told the guy to go take a flying leap and pushed him out of my way. the guy took a swing at me and i retaliated in kind. No charges were ever pressed but there is bad blood there to this day.

what i do on my land, is my buisness. My dad has deer hunters that come in every year but part of that is they take x number of does for each buck. usually about 3 to 1 as the bring young hunters with them every year. We dont grow monster bucks but the gene pool turnover is fresh enough that they grow good meat and average horns, usually 3x4 to 5x5 bucks. They are happy to have aplace to hunt and dad is glad to have the deer gone and not eating his winter cattle feed. They also shoot coyotes they see and also fun critters like skunks, procupines and other small game.

The second amendment doesnt say anyhting about hunting. until hunters realize they are doing what they do by the grace of the GF&P and the state, and not by right, we'll continue to have this argument. I have a right to own weapons of militia nature under the 2md amendment. Is your over and under really a militia ready weapon?

RCOB moment over coyote hunting

This happened several weeks ago and i thought it prudent to let my temper settle before i wrote about it. I posted on several of my forums over this and got some interesting answers. It all goes like this:

Went coyote hunting with my wife's brother. He doesnt like autos at all but respects my choices in firearms. He shoots bolt actions with glass. I have issues with scopes and my eyes so i only own one gun w/scope. Anyway we were out hunting and had four yotes come over the hill in front of us. I let him have the first shot and then i dumped the whole mag and tagged two more on the run. He had video fo it and when we got back to town we played it and the first thing out of the father in laws mouth was: "Why's you burn so much ammo?" and "Nobody needs automatics like that ot hunt with." I asked him about Zumbo and he said it was too bad that a bunch of nuts ruined a guys career. The rift grows bigger because he says i dont need to hunt with them until i get a "proper" rifle for hunting. then he says in the next breath he wants my help welding up a boat trailer (i was a certified welder in my past). The brother doesnt care what i hunt with, he says thats my business.

I recieved responses varying from, "you're a F'ing idot for hunting with an AR" to "you should shoot your FIL for thinking he can tell you what to do." And downhill from there.

At the moment there is an uneasy peace between us to make things liveable but i have a bad feeling this will come up later.

Right now im kind of dissilusioned with hunting and hunters in general. Now im not trying to rip on all hunters but around here it seems that hunting season brings out the nasty in everybody. Pissing contests over hunting land rights are common and its not toally unheard of for fists to be thrown. I enjoy huntign for the hunt, not the kill. If i needed meat id drive to the supermarket or butcher shop. Ive gotten to the point where i no longer enjoy the killing of animals. No, im not a tree hugger. i know that animals need to die to maintain a balance and hunting is a strategic part of that. What im tired of is the wanton destruction of the gene pool by trophy hunting for horns and needless suffereing of critters because of piss poor hunters.

Finnaly got my cold licked and am feeling MUCH better. One of the guys i work woth caught it and actually ended up in the hospital from it. Another has needed anti-biotics for almost two weeks and another that has pre-exisitng asthma is really in tough shape.

Off to the in-laws this weekend. It might get interesting as im in the middle of a nasty rift with the father in law over coyote hunting and what is a "proper" hunting rifle. But thats for another post.

Starting to get caught up a little on the reloading press. I picked up about 10,000 pcs of various mixed brass of E-bay a while back and im getting through them now that i feel better. My dad came into my basement one time when i had 5000 rounds of 9mm, 2500 rds of .357 and 6000 rounds of 5.56mm that had just come off the presses laid out to be sorted and boxed and asked me what country i was going to invade. Another friend looked into my munitions lockers where i keep my ammo and siad "Man thats Sarah Brady's worst nightmanre."

Where to start?

Man, time flies when you're not looking. Where to start? Well first at work we are installing new 500 HP pumps at our intake station and that means plant shutdowns, chemical flubs, all the BS that makes running a plant hard. Plus when the contractor finishes, they leave. No one there to cover the inevitable breakdowns ad BS that happen froma large construction project. Joy.

The home front has been work and sleep because im pulling 12 on/12 off shifts. Ive been trying to push the reloading pressa bit but when you're so tired you fall asleep with teh handle in your hand, its not prime time for cranking out quality rounds. My casting is already behind schedule for the year because of the snowstorm that came thorugh. Today is my only day off for the next seven days and i wanted to cast at least 25-30 pounds of bullets and shot today. No go. temp outside is 22 deg and 15-20 MPH wind. Not exactly the best condtions for making bullets. I went outside and my smelter actually has ice hanging off the side of it.

I was supposed to go over west on the res tonite and work ona car but thats gone out the window because of road condtions. Damn. I needed that money.
