Lesson learned
From my post at the hi point forums...
I went out ot the range to try out my new hi power. I checked it all over real close before i bought it so i knew there were no problems. I fired about half a dozen rounds of my generic lead reloads and POW!, case rupture. Scared the bejeezus out of me. I thought i had a bad batch of reloads so i went home and pulled about 20 rounds from different boxes of the last batch and several from previous batches.
I pulled them down an weighed the bullets and powder and check the flash holes. All was within spec. I took several boxes from the last and previous batches out with my C9, G17 and the hi power (after careful cleaning and inspection). The C9 and G17 shot all of the ammo i fed with no problems, or pressure signs (i had a few holed primers, but thats par for the course with cheap remy primers and a C9) I shot 50 rounds from both batches and inspected brass with no problems.
I shot rounds singly out of the hi power and within a few rounds was getting high pressure signs (primers falling out, case bulges, flattened case head lettering) i stopped and inspected and found that the chamber of the hi power was shaving the bullets as they seated and leaving bits of lead behind. Neither of my other guns do this. It would build up after a few rounds and really jack up the pressure. I guess ill just have to stick to jacketed rounds for this one. Other than that it was an excellent shooter.

Long week, short weekend, long week
Yes i'm right in the middle of it. Got hung with a single saturday night graveyard shift. Blows. We're painting our butts off and they are still pushing us to do more.
Next on the agenda is a bitch about who ever called the dept of labor on us. If i ever find out who ill pound them in the ground like a fence post. We lost all our comp time. Its gone. 1200 bucks worth of my time has evaporated faster than 50$ a case 7.62x39mm. Several other employees are threatening to quit over this. Its made our life miserable.
Now onto the fun stuff. I got all the parts for my glock a while back and got out to the range with it. Finnaly. topglock is slow to ship but they have good prices. now i have a 3.5# trigger and new sights. Bonza! I had to send in my hi point 9mm carbine for some kind of bolt failure. Wouldnt go into batttery and had alot of FTE's.
Oh heres another rant. Whoever though up the carbon fiber AR reciever should be shot. In the gonads. Repeatedly. 100 rounds and my brand new carbon 15 .223 has a crack in it. Bushmaster says the'll look at it and see if its warranty-able. 650 bucks down the crapper. Fuck.

Well, The SHTF at work today
Someone called the dept. of labor and claimed they weren't being paid overtime. We are salried employees and get comp time, hour for hour, for time over 8 hrs day. Apprently someone didnt like that. Now we have to go to hourly pay with OT and punch a time card, and fart around with a ton more paperwork. Idiot.

A few spare minutes..
Busy today. HAve painting and other things to do but im on shift till 7PM so i should have plenty of time to get them all done.
The wife and kid took off and went to her parents house for the weekend. I get pretty cranky working 12on/12off shifts. I need about 9 hours of sleep per night and the shift rotation only allowed me 6 lastnight so ill get home about 730 and crash out till its time to roll tommorow moring at 6 again. Not much point in her being there if all i do is work and sleep.

Blogging is going to be light for the next couple months
At least from work anyway. They are pushing us hard to have all our yearly paint and polish work done by the 1st of april. Normally we dont have it all done until the 1st of June. We're really gonna be humpin' and i doubt ill have much time and energy to play around with my blog.
